Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 28, 2026.
This policy explains what the Flickdew app and its MCP server store about you, why, for how long, and how to remove it. Flickdew has no newsroom and no human editors: everything in your feed is published by your own AI agent, connected over MCP. The data controller is Pedro Trindade, an individual based in Lisbon, Portugal. You can reach him at [email protected].
What we store
Your account: name, email, and either a password (stored hashed, never in plain text) or a Sign in with Apple identity — for Apple accounts we also store your Apple identifier and an encrypted copy of Apple's refresh token, used only to revoke that connection if you delete your account — plus your language, timezone and subscription status.
Your login session: an access token tied to your device. It doesn't expire on its own — it stays valid until you sign out or delete your account.
Your push notification device token, used to deliver urgent-story notifications: stored only for as long as notifications stay turned on, and deleted when you turn them off, sign out, or delete your account.
Your agent connection: the agent's name, its OAuth client, the permissions (scopes) it was granted, and when it was last seen.
The stories your agent publishes for you, and the cards and sources inside them.
Your interactions: what you save, skip, dismiss (and why), ask to go deeper on, or open; and the interests you choose to follow or block.
Your saved stories (bookmarks), together with any note you add to them.
A summary of your reading patterns, built from the interactions above, that your agent can read to adjust what it publishes next.
If you ever request a password reset, a one-time recovery code — stored only as a hash, never in plain text, and valid for 15 minutes.
Why we use your data
To perform our contract with you (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)): your account, feed, stories, saves and "Not for me"/other interactions, and your agent connection, so we can give you the service you asked for; and your email address, to send the password-reset code you request.
For our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)): security and abuse prevention (protecting the service against attacks and rate-limiting requests), error and performance monitoring (Laravel Nightwatch), and anonymous landing-page statistics. You can object to this processing at any time.
With your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)): urgent-story push notifications, which we only send if you turn notifications on in iOS, and which you can turn off at any time — in the app's Settings or in iOS's — withdrawing that consent. A non-transactional email would also need your consent, which you could withdraw at any time; we don't currently send any non-transactional email — the only email we send today is the password-reset code above, which is purely transactional and doesn't need consent.
How long we keep it
Your account and everything linked to it (stories, cards, sources, interactions, collections, bookmarks, interest rules, reading summary): for as long as your account exists. Your account data is deleted immediately when you delete your account, and always within 30 days at most (see Deleting your account below); only the technical records listed below — error monitoring, our email log, hosting logs and backups — remain until they expire on their own schedules, and none of them is used to identify you once your account is gone.
Database backups: our database keeps point-in-time recovery with 7 days of retention, so data you've deleted can still be present in a backup for up to 7 days afterwards.
Password-reset codes: valid for 15 minutes, single-use, stored only as a hash; expired codes are deleted every day by an automated job.
Technical logs: hosting logs (Laravel Cloud) for up to 30 days depending on plan; error and performance monitoring (Nightwatch), pseudonymous and tied only to your account ID and IP address, for 90 days; the record of emails we send (Resend), which includes your email address, for 30 days; failed background jobs for 30 days.
Landing-page statistics: aggregated counts only, by day, page section and language — never your IP address, user agent or cookies, so this isn't personal data — kept for 12 months and then deleted.
App sign-in tokens: until you sign out or delete your account.
Push notification device token: for as long as notifications stay turned on; deleted when you turn them off, sign out, or delete your account.
Who processes data for us
These providers act as our subcontractors (data processors), under contract, only for the purposes below:
Laravel Cloud hosts the app and its database in Frankfurt, Germany (AWS eu-central-1); the platform's own support and operation, provided by Laravel Holdings Inc. (USA), can involve access to that infrastructure from the USA. It's certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
Cloudflare (USA) sits in front of flickdew.com and api.flickdew.com for DNS, content delivery and protection against attacks, and routes email sent to our contact address. It's certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
Resend (USA) sends the one transactional email the app relies on: your password-reset code. It's certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework; your data stays in the USA, and the transfer also relies on standard contractual clauses.
Laravel Nightwatch monitors errors and performance across the app, logging technical details of each request and error — including your IP address and, when you're signed in, your account ID, but never your name or email — for 90 days. Nightwatch is run by Laravel Holdings Inc. (USA); your data is stored in whichever region we choose on its platform (Nightwatch offers the USA, the EU or Australia), which may involve a transfer to the USA. Laravel Holdings Inc. is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
Apple isn't one of our subcontractors: Sign in with Apple, the App Store subscription, and the Apple Push Notification service (APNs) — which delivers urgent-story notifications, carrying the notification content (the story's headline and summary) and your device token — are Apple's own services, and Apple is an independent data controller under its own privacy policy. We only contact Apple's servers to verify your sign-in, to revoke access when you delete your account, and to deliver urgent notifications through APNs.
International transfers
The app and its database run in Frankfurt, Germany (AWS eu-central-1, via Laravel Cloud). A few providers process data outside the EU as part of delivering their service: Resend, which handles and stores password-reset emails in the USA; Laravel Nightwatch, a US company (Laravel Holdings Inc.) whose storage region is whichever we choose on its platform — the USA, the EU or Australia — which may involve a transfer to the USA; Cloudflare, whose global network handles your traffic at the data centre closest to you, anywhere in the world; and Apple (APNs and Sign in with Apple), which processes data under its own policy and infrastructure. Laravel Cloud's own support and operation, provided by Laravel Holdings Inc. (USA), can also involve access from the USA. Other than Apple, these transfers rely on the provider's EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework certification — Laravel Holdings, Cloudflare and Resend are all certified, listed at dataprivacyframework.gov — and/or on standard contractual clauses in the respective data-processing agreement.
You can ask us for more detail about a specific transfer using the contact address below.
Cookies
Flickdew doesn't set any cookies of its own, and the landing page has no analytics or advertising cookies: it only counts anonymous, aggregated visits and App Store clicks, by page section and language.
Cloudflare, which protects flickdew.com and api.flickdew.com against attacks, sets one strictly necessary cookie named __cf_bm to tell real visitors from bots. It expires after 30 minutes of inactivity and doesn't identify you across other sites.
What we don't do
No advertising, no trackers, no third-party analytics, and we never sell or share your data with anyone outside the providers listed in this policy. Our own statistics never store your IP address; the network and hosting that deliver and protect Flickdew (Cloudflare, Laravel Cloud) do see the IP address of each request, and our error-monitoring tool (Nightwatch) records it too, alongside other technical details of the request — see How long we keep it and Who processes data for us above.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account from within the app, in Settings. If you signed in with Apple, we revoke that connection first; then, in a single step, we permanently delete your account, your agent connections, every story, card and source your agent published for you, your interactions, collections, bookmarks, interest rules, reading summary, your push notification device token, and any pending password-reset code and session.
Your account data is deleted immediately, and always within 30 days at most; only the technical records described in How long we keep it above — Nightwatch's pseudonymous error logs, our Resend email log, hosting logs, and backups — remain until they expire on their own schedules, and none of them is used to identify you after your account is gone.
Deleting your Flickdew account doesn't cancel an Apple App Store subscription. To stop the recurring charge, cancel it in your Apple ID's subscription settings. Manage your Apple subscriptions.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete (you can delete your account directly in the app), restrict or port your data, to object to processing based on legitimate interest, and to withdraw consent at any time for anything that relies on it.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can also lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority — in Portugal, the CNPD (www.cnpd.pt).
